Street scene, 1993

A fairly typical street scene in the Ulaanbaatar of 1993. That means there are very few cars, and those would be almost all Russian-made. A few used Mercedes might be about, but not many.

Ulaanbaatar has changed so much, I'm not 100 per cent sure where this was taken. I know it is a few blocks north of Sühbaatar Square, looking south towards the Square. I also am pretty sure it is one of two streets, but I'm not sure which of the two it is. My guess is that it is to the west of the old children's cultural palace (or whatever its technical, formal name wa) in the north part of the city. If so, that means the Chinggis Pub (the main one) is basically across the street to the right of this picture.
