Snow storm, Sansar, 1993

One of the things I love about Ulaanbaatar (at least when the air pollution isn't really bad) is the light. It can be mesmerizing to sit and watch the weather roll in over the mountains to the south, or just watch the play of sun and shadows as clouds pass through the sky. If I have any say in the matter, I try to get apartments with windows (and preferably a balcony) that look south. When storms come, as one is in this picture, the clouds often descend over the hills. Both rain and snow storms can really be something to just sit and watch. This particular snow storm hit Ulaanbaatar in early May, 1993. We ended up with about three or four inches of snow, as I recall.
