Terbish, 1999.

Terbish (the name translates as "Not him/her" or "Not that" - the third person singular being undifferentiated in Mongolian) is one of my favorite people to talk to, even if he never gets my name quite right. He was funny, kind and full of stories. I actually had met and originally interviewed him for my work on political repression, but I learned a lot about other things as well from him. The photo was taken in his kitchen, we we would often sit and drink tea and eat jam and bread while we talked.
