Gers used by political parties, Naadam 1999 .

In addition to being lived in by about half of the households in Mongolia, gers find a lot of use when people want or need some sort of temporary housing or building. Here they are being used by political parties who want a presence at Naadam. The one on the left is the Mongolian People's Revolutionary Party (MAHN, by its Mongolian abbreviation). The flag for the one on the right isn't clear, but I'm pretty sure it's the Eh Oron flag. In recent years, I've seen vendors set up gers near a shopping center to advertise and drum up business.

People - especially important ones and party members - could stop in to talk, chat, and be offered something to drink.

Note the decorations along the MAHN tent.
