Baby camel

Baby camel with winter coat

Despite it being summer of 2005 when this photo was taken, this young camel still has its winter coat. This gives you a better idea of what the winter wool looks like, although adult camels often look even more luxurious. They then look rather ugly and odd when they shed, since it seems to come off in clumps, leaving a wooly camel with bare spots, and then a largely bare camel with wooly patches. The halter you can see on its head is probably made from horse hair or camel's wool.
