ger with satellite

Ger with satellite dish.

This is actually a fairly common site these days: a ger with a satellite dish. (As are photos of gers with satellite dishes.) The power for the dish and TV usually comes from either a generator or solar cells charging a battery, which was the case here as I recall. This particular ger was on the road between Ulaanbaatar and Harhorin. Prices for satellite dishes start, I believe, at a few hundred dollars, so for herders, they are not particularly cheap, but not prohibitively expensive either, at least for the more successful herders.
